As we reported on back in June of 2016, former ‘Carolina Ghostbusters’ cosplay fan group leader Michael ‘Doc’ Robert Geressy has been convicted of child solicitation.

Geressy, 37, of Gastonia, North Carolina, pleaded guilty to solicitation of a child by a computer Monday at the Lincoln County (NC) Courthouse. He will serve 75 days in prison followed by four months of electric monitoring. Geressy will then be required to register as a sex offender for 30 years.

LINCOLNTON, NC – Former ‘Carolina Ghostbusters’ fan group leader, and prominent southeastern regional cosplayer and entertainer Michael ‘Doc’ Robert Geressy has been charged with soliciting children for sex, according to the Lincoln County Police Department.

Police arrested Geressy on Friday, June 10, for soliciting a child for sex act by a computer and appearing, following a sting operation wherein police posed as a 14-year-old girl on social media. After the two allegedy discussed meeting to engage in sexual activity, Geressy was arrested upon arrival at the undisclosed location near Charlotte, NC.

Police say they discovered Geressy dressed in a “Men in Black” cosplay (including a black suit, black tie, and black sunglasses) and driving a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria, the exact replica of the car used in the “Men in Black” movie franchise, that had been modified to match the gadgets used in the films.

Greetings Fellow Nerds!
Your favorite curmudgeon is back with another piece of cinematic crap in The Negative Space. For this one, I had more than a few requests to tackle the show Heroes of Cosplay. I had never ventured to watch this show because…

  • A: I don’t cosplay, I’m fat and lazy,
  • and B: the fine quality programming that siffy (I refuse to acknowledge that SciFi is the same as SYFY) is putting out these days just really hasn’t been anything that watching kitchen linoleum warp from summer heat couldn’t entertain you more.
