Telltale Games, the video game company responsible for such titles as The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Minecraft Story Mode, and many others is officially shutting down operations, according to an official statement and press release.
On Friday, September 21, 2018 – in a post on the official Telltale Games Facebook Page, the company issued a statement announcing the majority studio closure. Stating that a “majority of the company’s employees were dismissed this morning” and that they will “a small group of 25 employees staying on to fulfill the company’s obligations to its board and partners”
Known for their signature style narrative-based, story-heavy games – almost always based on existing popular media – Telltale Games already had at least three new titles in development, including The Walking Dead: The Final Season, the new Stranger Things: A Telltale Game, and a Minecraft Story Mode for Netflix, the latter of which is the most heavily theorized reason for the remaining skeleton crew.
