KNOXVILLE, TN: Glenn Jacobs, better known by his stage name ‘Kane’ of WWE has been elected as mayor of Knox County, TN. Knox County is of course the home county of Knoxville, the third most populous city in Tennessee (behind Nashville and Memphis, respectively) and the home of Jacobs.

Standing at 7′ tall, and weighing in at 323lbs, Jacobs began his professional wrestling career in 1992 wrestling for promotions such as USWA and SMW, but found his greatest success in 1997, where he debuted his now-iconic character of Kane in WWE (then WWF). Over his 21-year career in WWE as Kane, Jacobs enjoyed tremendous success, winning three world championships, two intercontinental championships, and twelve tag team championships, making him the promotion’s third ever “grand slam champion”.

Also an actor, Jacobs gained notoriety for his role as the monstrous Jacob Goodnight in the See No Evil horror franchise, as well as roles in Smallville, MacGruber, and others in both film and television. Outside of wrestling and acting, Jacobs and his wife own an Allstate Insurance Agency in Knoxville. The election makes him the second major, former professional wrestler to hold public office in the United States, with Jesse “The Body” Ventura being the first, as mayor of Brooklyn Park, MN, and later governor of Minnesota.

Jacobs will be sworn into office on September 1, 2018 and begin his duties as mayor immediately thereafter.
