In an exclusive interview with Nerd Nation Magazine, writer and co-director Blair Hoyle said of the film:

“At its core, Happy Endings Are a Rarity is a film about being afraid to leave a comfortable situation in pursuit of something greater. There are a lot of emotions that come with making those kinds of decisions, and we tried to capture all of them on screen. It’s a very personal film for me, and I hope everyone enjoys it.”
