It’s official – The Punisher is getting his own TV series.

Netflix and Marvel officially confirmed that due to the overwhelming popularity of the gun-toting, vengeful, military veteran Frank Castle in season two of Marvel’s Daredevil, that the man known as The Punisher will be receiving his own Netflix Original Series, and that Jon Bernthal (known previously for his breakout role in AMC’s The Walking Dead) will reprise the role, with Steve Lightfoot serving as lead writer, executive producer, and showrunner.

Marvel’s The Punisher marks the sixth series ordered as a part of the collaboration between Marvel and Netflix, and will join the upcoming Luke Cage and Iron Fist (as well as an upcoming Defenders miniseries) as new original shows coming to the highly-popular streaming service.
As of the time of this article, no official release date has been confirmed, but it is said to be premiering in 2017.
