Gunnar Hansen, the man who terrorized millions in his iconic role as ‘Leatherface’ in 1974’s “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” has died at the age of 68.

In a press release from his agent Mike Eisenstadt, it was reported that Mr. Hansen passed away at his home in Northeast Harbor, Maine on Saturday evening, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his partner of 13 years, Betty Tower.
Born in Reykjavík, Iceland in 1947, Hansen immigrated to the United States during childhood, where he grew up in Texas. Following his breakthrough role in Tobe Hooper’s “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” he enjoyed a great deal of cult success appearing in several low-budget/independent horror films, heavily touring the convention circuit, and even publishing a book on his career entitled “Chainsaw Confidential.”

On behalf of all of us at Nerd Nation, we would like to express our deepest sympathies to Mr. Hansen’s family.
