Words cannot describe the loss that the fandom world has suffered tonight, but please allow us, with great respect and admiration, to try. Legendary filmmaker Wes Craven was truly one of the great horror directors of the modern era. The horror cinema icon had been battling brain cancer, according to a statement from his family. He was 76 years old.

From showing us what happens at The Last House on the Left, to introducing us to Swamp Thing in theatrical form, to teaching us the meaning of “One, Two, Freddy’s coming for you!” to bringing to light The People Under the Stairs, and rejuvenating the entire horror genre when it was in a slump with Scream. Wes Craven truly built a incredible legacy.

We can only say farewell Mr. Craven; you have undeniably left your mark on the world, in the creative hearts and minds of future generations, from filmmakers down to the most casual fan, and quite a prolific mark it is.
On behalf of all of us at Nerd Nation Magazine – Rest in Peace, Sir.
